huh?

i just find it weird how korean professors criticize their students on their english. i applaud these students as english may be their second or even their third language. actually attending classes, writing, and speaking in their second language can get pretty difficult. recently, i had to research a korean firm that had no english website and it took ages for me to try to translate. let alone, researching on google and naver. i can't even begin to wonder how long it takes them to write a paper we can whip up in 20 minutes. it took me a good 6 hours to extract some information i found through naver. eek.

anyways, i have this one notorious professor that enjoys criticizing people's language skills. we have some french people in our class and what did he say to them? "wow, your english skills are horrible. your french accent is too much. can you just speak in french?" ouch. and, another native english speaker was attacked as well. "you sure you're a native english speaker? you have a strong korean accent in your english."

i had to present my case briefing today and luckily my english "was native level, without any accents. but, please do speak slower." whew. he actually gave us the option to speak in our native tongue so all the koreans are speaking in korean. its a big class with 50+ students and so whenever they present, i start to go into dreamland and dream about getting out of that class.

oh, and the professor? he's some fancy diplomat who can speak 5+ different languages. his english is (unfortunately?) superb so can't really complain there.

wow, how long has it been?

i just disappeared, didn't i? well, the internship at the korean giant ended and now i'm back at school. i should be studying EU Economy right now but i wanted to take a break. i couldn't stand another charles de gaulle story. . so, i decided to make my blogging scene come back with my own history. so, here i am. back.
